Turnover for 1st quarter 2005 : 159.2 M€ - 10/05
RETURN TO "NORMAL" CONDITIONS IN FRANCE
Le groupe Evialis a réalisé un chiffre d'affaires de 159,2 M€ au premier trimestre 2005.
The evolution of turnover for the first quarter 2005 compared with the same period of 2004 has to be considered taking the following factors into account:
It essentially concerns the production of complete feed in France, which saw a reduction in volumes – especially of dairy cow feed – compared with 2004, when the group benefited from the effects of the 2003 heatwave that resulted in a shortage of forage crops on livestock farms;
The group has passed on the significant reduction in the price of raw materials for both the protein part (soya bean, rapeseed, etc.) and the energy part (wheat, maize, etc.), which represent more than 75% of the cost price of the complete feed.The premix-specialties and animal health activities are progressing in what remains a highly competitive context.
CONFIRMATION OF THE RECOVERY OF ACTIVITIES ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE
The turnover for international activities has remained stable at 31.3 M€.Sales in Asia are showing a significant increase, especially in Vietnam where volumes have more than doubled over the period.
In Eastern Europe, in spite of market conditions that remain difficult in Poland, the premix-specialties activity is showing a marked progress. Complete feed sales volumes are down, however, due to the termination of subcontracting contracts.
Southern Europe has shown good performance in its premix-specialties activities and maintained complete feed volumes in Spain, in a raw materials context similar to that in France.
First quarter sales volumes in Brazil have increased by over 10%, thereby confirming the upturn observed in 2004.
Activities in South Africa continue to develop with an increase in sales turnover of the same scale.
PROSPECTS
In spite of the drop in turnover registered in the first quarter of 2005, the Group's performance continues to improve and the results for the first half-year 2005 should be up on 2004.
