For the six months ended june 30, 2001 Evialis reported revenues of €370 million, an 11.2% increase compared with the corresponding prior period. Revenues up 11.2%

For the six months ended june 30, 2001 Evialis reported revenues of €370 million, an 11.2% increase compared with the corresponding prior period. This increase primarily reflects the impact of acquisitions made in late 2000 in differentiated products ( fish and game divisions of Gheerbrant) and in early 2001 in Nothern France and Normandy ( Prévital Nord and Prévital Normandie).

At a constant group structure, revenues were stable, despite the adverse impact in the first quarter of 2001 of the combined effect of the BSE crisis, the out break of Foot and Mouth  Disease and the Company’s decision to phase out low-margin poultry business. These factors were offset by the mechanical impact of part of the significant rise in raw material prices at the beginning of the year and, in particular by the strong performance of differentiated businesses ( premix, specialities, premium, health).

Gradual improvement in operating results

Operating results were improved by a more favourable operating environment toward the end of the first half of the year, combined with high sales in the animal health branch. Although operating results were adversely affected by the first-quarter crisis, the impact on half year results is expected to be moderate. This operating trend attests to the validity of the group’s decision to pursue the development of value-added products and services and to step up to streamline feed production in France.
