Sales up 11% in the first nine months of the year - 13/11

Sales figures for the first nine months remained stable on a like-for-like basis. However, external growth pushed sales up by 11% with a contribution of €56 million. Sales for the third quarter totalled € 180 million, compared with € 162 million during the same period in the previous financial year, an increase of 11.3%. The service firms Coprex and Iza, based in South Africa and Italy respectively, were consolidated during this quarter for sales of € 6 million.

The crises that occurred at the start of the year continued to have an impact

During the third quarter, Evialis continued to feel the impact of the crisis that hit certain sectors of livestock production at the start of the year, and notably the beef industry in Europe.

The impact of the crisis has been offset to some extent through a change to the product mix, which now focuses more strongly on added value products (health, premix, specialities), and through the contribution of external growth.
Against this backdrop, the EBIT at 31 December is expected to reflect the trend observed in the half-yearly results, which were down on the last financial year.

The group is continuing to reorganise its animal feed activities in France, Poland and Brazil. The first results should be noticeable in the first half of 2002.
