Evialis steps up operations in South Africa
The Evialis Group is consolidating its position in South Africa through the acquisition of Monti Foods. Based in East London in the province of Eastern Cape, Monti Foods sells 30,000 tonnes of compound feed per year for turnover of over €6 million.
This acquisition will expand the activities of Coprex, a fully owned Evialis subsidiary headquartered in Johannesburg and specialising in premix, concentrates and nutritional specialities.
Monti Foods gives the Evialis Group a foothold on the compound feed market in South Africa, particularly in the coastal region, where new opportunities for growth could be studied

Acquired by the Group in 2001, Coprex is a well known firm, which has established itself locally as a leader in piglet feed and concentrates for sows. This subsidiary is reporting good operational and financial results. Monti Foods will make a positive contribution to Group results from 2005. Its acquisition was financed locally. By combining the activities of the two firms, Evialis will build on these strong levels of individual performance to quickly create new synergies. For example, Coprex will supply premix and starter feeds to Monti Foods.
